Play With a Band
Tonight’s Open Stage Night at the Studio Restaurant and Bar promises to be a random good time, musically speaking. Every Tuesday from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, amateur and professional musicians can bring their instruments and get onstage with the bar’s house band. “We’ve had [people singing] country, metal and Harry Connick Jr.,” manager Patrick Burger says. “It’s the most accomplished open-mic night I’ve ever seen.” Sadly, no one has played the spoons or a washboard just yet.
Located at 1118 McGee, the Studio is a beautiful art deco building that used to be the apartment and workspace for architect Louis Curtiss. The Studio offers 12 beers on tap and weekday drink specials. On Tuesdays, apple and raspberry martinis cost $3, and the 3-7 p.m. happy hour includes beer and well drinks for $2.50.
