Planned Parenthood gets license to perform abortions in Kansas
Planned Parenthood in Overland Park has received a license from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to perform abortions. The announcement came hours before Kansas would have become the only state in the nation to not have a clinic offering women abortion services.
The news came at the end of a dramatic week for abortion clinics. KDHE had initially announced that none of Kansas’ three abortion clinics had met new stringent facility requirements. The new regulations prompted two doctors at the Center for Women’s Health to file a federal lawsuit. Aid for Women, a clinic in Kansas City, Kansas, asked to intervene on the suit.
