Pitch describes e-tax as something it’s not

I screwed up badly in a post that went live on this space earlier today. I criticized Mayor Mark Funkhouser for describing the 1-percent earnings tax as something it’s not. But the error was mine.

I wrote the post under the mistaken idea that the earnings tax is only applied to people who work in Kansas City. In fact, people who live within the city limits and work elsewhere also pay the tax.

The original post was taken down in attempt to stem the tide of ignorance. I apologize to the mayor and to our readers for the error.
