The Ozark Mountain Daredevils are a staple in every southern rock American household and road trip playlist. For over fifty years, the world has been singing along to “If You Wanna Get To Heaven” and other hits by the beloved band. Their first show as a group happened in 1973, just minutes away at the Cowtown Ballroom, and I was fortunate enough to capture their final show in Kansas City when they stopped at the Kauffman Center on Friday night.
The Ozark Mountain Daredevils started by having everyone stand from their seats as they opened with stories of their fifty years together. The band’s Southern bluegrass rock ‘n’ roll was immediately comforting and exciting, with everything from the first note to the final bow leaving me emotional. I felt honored to be even a small part of it.
