Warehouse on Broadway
Friday, June 6

Eclectic funk duo the Floozies brought the soul to the forefront of the venue. With kids on the rail, flow and poi artists in every area of the background, and extremely mindful absolute wooks, I felt right at home. Their seamless setlist that intertwines within each song was never-ending jams.

Based out of Denver, parkbreezy opened for The Floozies Friday night opening with ’90s music mixed with electric loops and custom bass added. After initially grabbing all of Warehouse’s attention and naturally drawing us to the center of the floor, he dropped bass we didn’t even know we deserved. Pashimas whirled in the air like the ’90s Barbie that flew out of the lotus (if you know you know). Literally everyone, even security, was entranced in parkbreezy’s nonstop bangers, as he brought all killer, no filler for his entire set.

Local to Kansas City, Twinnflame was first of three on the docket Friday night at Warehouse on Broadway. While most individualize music that everyone knows, Twinnflame orchestrated her own songs in an original set of deep house, funk, and soft jazz with heavy bass. One thing I deeply appreciate about Twinnflame is nothing was pre-recorded. She played, looped, and sang in real time. This was my first time seeing her but I can almost guarantee no two shows are the same.

Finally, I want to take a moment to shoutout to Warehouse on Broadway. Every venue in the city loves their own cocktails, and admittedly most sling a really mean seltzer, but Warehouse is the only venue I’ve personally attended that has an entire cocktail menu of cannabis drinks. They’re cheaper, taste better, and give the effect of drinking while only actually consuming a miniscule amount of something that alters the mind. Additionally, security was beyond kind. I felt right at home. I was greeted with hugs and welcoming vibes and it only got better from there. I want to work every show Warehouse holds, ever.
