The Dead South is an energetic Canadian folk-bluegrass band with haunting harmonies. Their alternative country style brings a gritty, foot-stomping sound while their distinctive attire only adds to their rustic, outlaw aesthetic. Banjo player Colton Crawford shared with us that this was only his third show post-spinal surgery this past June, only adding to their badass aesthetic. Touring in support of this February’s Chains & Stakes, as well as the tenth anniversary of their debut, Good Company, the Dead South had a wide variety of tunes from which to choose.
Henry Wagons is much more than a good musician from Australia. Henry personifies entertainment through hilarious storytelling and banter with the audience. At one point he called out a guy who was wearing a Captain America shirt to dedicate the next song to him. The opening lines of the next song were “Keep your eyes off my sister.” He later brought someone up from the audience to blow a train whistle throughout the song. The band’s indie county rock sound is perfected by Henry’s deep voice.
If you missed his show, you can always catch his Double J radio show, Tower of Song.
