Tacos and Tequila Festival hit KCK this past Saturday, June 1, at Legends Field, with the autotune avant-gardist T-Pain headlining the event. Ashanti, Chamillionaire, David Banner, Yung Joc, Bubba Sparxxx, Murphy Lee, and DJ Ashton Martin were the round-up of artists that accompanied T-Pain on this day full of beats and booze.

On top of the hefty docket of musical acts, the food and drinks brought Kansas Citians to the gates of Legends Field. There were around 100 local chef-inspired street tacos at the ready, plenty of hand-crafted cocktails, and a salsa and queso competition, living up to their Tacos and Tequila namesake.

The event also hosted Masked Republic—a live event, merchandising, and media organization uniquely centered in the emerging growth market of lucha libre (Mexican wrestling) beyond the borders of Mexico, according to their website. The highflying group of wrestlers soared off the ropes last Saturday, offering yet another avenue of entertainment to the ballpark.

Tacos and Tequila Festival couldn’t get by without adding an adorable factor to the mix. Falling in line with the other Hispanic traditions, the event hosted a chihuahua beauty pageant, where local pups got their time to shine in the limelight.

Overall, the event had just about anything one could expect out of a tacos and tequila fiesta. With a strong lineup of musical acts to co-exist alongside the commodities and cheerfulness, Tacos and Tequila Festival hit all of the marks this past Saturday.
