Slightly Stoopid’s lively set Sunday night was the perfect way to start the week. Slightly Stoopid is known for blending traditional reggae, rock, punk, and hip-hop and unmistakable SoCal vibes. The horn section added punch to the set, while the rhythm section held everything together with a smooth, dub-infused pulse. The band’s connection with the audience was evident as we all moved as one while smiling ear to ear. The band was feeding off the energy, when the fans screamed or swayed or jumped so did the band, and vice versa. Slightly Stoopid’s infectious spirit turned the venue into a beach party, with extra hype provided by special guest Cali 2na of Jurassic Five. As the moon rose, the vibe was unmistakably chill and charged, and Slightly Stoopid once again proved why they’re a staple of the reggae jam scene.
As the sun set and the warm summer evening took hold, Iration’s opening set of reggae soothed the air while hippies danced barefoot (well … like, one guy was barefoot but still). The laid-back energy built steadily throughout the night. Frontman Micah Pueschel kept the audience engaged with uplifting messages and encouraging spontaneity. Each member of the band had a moment to shine, from slick guitar solos to horn interludes that added rich texture to the tropical grooves. The band’s chemistry was evident, and their talent created a casual, coastal vibe.
