The Kansas City Royals fell short to the Detroit Tigers once again on Tuesday, Sept. 18. After losing game one by just a run, the Tigers take game two with a 3-1 victory. The Tigers took an early one-run lead in the first, followed by the Royals scraping up one of their own in the third to tie the game. The game remained stagnant throughout the rest of regulation, sending the game into extra innings. Stellar pitching performances from Cole Ragans, Kris Bubic, and Lucas Erceg got the team where they wanted to be by the end of the game, but the bats couldn’t finish the job. The Tigers score two in the tenth and end a hopeful night of a Bobby Witt Jr. walk-off. Despite the loss, there was some joyous as Salvador Perez was crowned the Royals Roberto Clemente Award nominee. The overall league winner will be announced at the 2024 World Series.
