Photos: March for Science at Washington Square Park, Kansas City

Approximately 2,000 Kansas Citians marched (gathered) in Washington Square Park between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. today, commemorating Earth Day by participating in the March for Science, a worldwide show of support for evidence-based science (because yes, in 2017, we are seriously debating the merits of science). Speakers included Roy Jensen, Director of the University of Kansas Medical Center Cancer Center, Kansas State Representative and science teacher Brett Parker, and Kenneth Peterson, director of the Center for Epigenetics and Stem Cell Biology at University of Kansas Medical Center, among several others. March organizers expected approximately 1,000 attendees, noting that turnout far exceeded their expectations.
