Leftover Salmon
Knuckleheads
Friday, January 31

Leftover Salmon, a unique band merging bluegrass, rock, country, Cajun, and jazz into its own sound aptly noted as “polyethnic Cajun slamgrass” stopped through Kansas City in their 35th year together. Opening with a cover of the Leiber and Stoller classic, “Kansas City,” Leftover Salmon intertwined their own logo within the everchanging Chiefs and Royals logos in the backdrop setting an energetic and powerful tone for the night. Whether or not you’re a sports fan, the passion Kansas City has for celebrating is unmatched.

Leftover Salmon played a nonstop set with improvised jams, progressive bluegrass, and stomp n holler combined all night. Their sold out show is a testimony to how loyal their massive following are. Leftover Salmon and I are the same age, and it’s been a true pleasure growing up with them. I’ve seen them in three states and it’s quite literally never even close to the same experience at any show. Even if you go alone, you’re never a stranger at a Salmon show.
