Saturday March 16, 2024 saw the opening of the new CPKC Stadium—home of the KC Current and the first stadium built for a professional women’s sports team in the world. In a historic day of firsts, the Current themselves came out swinging with one of their most impressive matches since the club returned to the metro. Dealing the top-tier Portland Thorns a loss with a rousing 5-4 final score—including a three point lead for the Current at one point—the sold out crowd was treated to more than an impressive new place to call home.
