On Friday, August 29th, a popular group of men from a boy band era gone by stopped through Kansas City on the Pop 2000 Tour. In fact, members of four popular musical acts graced the stage at VooDoo Lounge, bringing on an ultimate evening of nostalgia and, quite frankly, chaos. Superfans lined the halls of Harrah’s Casino early to get a good spot in the space, shopping a host of fun and tongue-in-cheek merch items beneath the balcony and chatting it up with other attendees before absolutely losing their minds over this talented group of men.
Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC served as the host for the evening, showcasing the musical talents of Ryan Cabrera, O-Town, and LFO before taking the stage himself to perform his hits. Ryan played a handful of favorites like “Exit to Exit” and “On The Way Down,” while O-Town assisted Brad Fischetti of LFO fame through hits like “Girl on TV” and “Summer Girls.”
O-Town themselves did some fun cover medleys and songs like “Liquid Dreams” and “These Are the Days,” accompanied by some of the most entertaining dance moves. Every single one of these guys has rhythm and can hit obscenely high notes. O-Town should have their own residency in Vegas, and that is not an understatement.
Chris came out to thunderous applause, singing lead to tracks like “Drive Myself Crazy,” “Space Cowboy,” “It’s Gonna Be Me,” and “Tearin’ Up My Heart.” Yes, he even treated us to “Bye, Bye, Bye,” and perfectly executed some of those signature dance moves so many of us still remember. The grand finale, however, was marked by Meredith Schneider’s “I Want It All,” when most of the performers came out to belt their hearts out with the audience.
