‘Person of interest’ in custody in Waldo rapist investigation

Kansas City police say a “person of interest” is in custody in the Waldo rapist investigation. The man was taken into custody in the 3200 block of Thompson around 4 p.m. today.

Detectives are questioning the man.

Kansas City police have been investigating several rapes in the Waldo area.

In the previous

rapes in the

Waldo area, the

suspect was described as a black man with “a deep,

smooth voice” who smelled of smoke and exhaust fumes. He is said to be

about 6-feet tall,

250 pounds, bald with pitted cheeks and possible acne scars. The man

allegedly told one victim that he is 27 years old, although police

believe he is lying about his age. Another victim told police that the

man “had very bad breath.”
