Perez Hilton Presents
The music industry isn’t something to be dabbled in by anyone in the company of desperate pseudo-celebrities, much less the self-proclaimed queen of media himself, but Perez Hilton’s first stab at tour promoting isn’t far off the mark. The inaugural Perez Hilton Presents tour brings as headliners indie-queen Ladyhawke and Norwegian rocker-girl Ida Maria. The two acts played together at Perez’s SXSW party, and it’s almost freakishly scary that he cooked up this killer lineup himself in the first place. Synthesizers at hand, retro-pop princess Ladyhawke gives showgoers ’80s-tinged tunes to shake to. The New Zealand-born artist, also known as Pip Brown, not only played all the instruments on her self-titled debut but also received rave reviews on her recent European tour. For those fans of less manufactured yet glorious pop rock, there’s a spicy alternative. From her recent visits in June (the Beaumont Club) and August (The Granada), locals have already gotten a taste of Ida Maria’s unforgettably raw and unpredictable shows. Having recently paired up with Iggy Pop, Ida is quickly breaking the hearts of even the staunchest fem-rock opponents.
