Pam Grier, Samwise Gamgee, guy from Doctor Who coming to Kansas City Comic Con next month
Not to be confused with Planet Comicon, Kansas City Comic Con will be held at Bartle Hall next month, from Friday, August 7, through Sunday, August 9. There will be cosplay. There will be gaming. There will be vendors and artists peddling their wares. And there will be some celebrities.
Like who? Well.
*Pam Grier, star of Jackie Brown and several blaxploitation flicks.
*Sean Astin, star of Rudy and Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
*Colin Baker, the sixth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who.
*Bret Iwan, voice of Mickey Mouse.
*Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor in Game of Thrones.
*Walter Day, who founded Twin Galaxies, the organization that tracks video-game world records, featured in the documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.
*Billy Mitchell, video-game legend who was also featured in The King of Kong.
*Austin St. John, the red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger.

Most of those names will be at KC Comic Con all three days, but check the website to confirm. Tickets cost $25 for Friday, $35 for Saturday and $30 for Sunday. Three-day tickets are $60, and a three-day VIP pass is $120. More information can be found here.
