Out of Time & Space Astrology
Dedicated to the late Amy Winehouse, September 14, 1983-July 23, 2011. Read Pisces first.
Leo/Leo Rising* (July 22-Aug 22): Stop! The love you save may be your own. Or so the old Motown song goes. Your love nature is basically monogamous, even if talk like you are player. Loving and attractive Venus sits prettily in your own sign until August 21. Feedback from all those you consider beautiful will be demanded. Realize that sometimes you’re about as subtle as a bovine in a Williams/Sonoma store. New hair that may be a retro style (remember Ms. Winehouse’s beehive?) Her Venus (taste) was in Leo, (she had her own style) when you have little to no self-esteem, you can squander your talents or place less of a value on them. Everyone can see, but in your excessive self-consciousness, you are not truly aware of your impact, only what you lack. Let this Goddess of Love return you to an exceptional love affair with yourself that you share with those who are ready to receive your affection. Be ready to recognize what is trending before others, you might be able to capitalize on your prescient vision, too.
Virgo/Virgo Rising* (Aug 22-Sept 22): A new study shows that having an optimistic attitude reduces the risk of stroke. Psychosomatic, the body/mind connection, is extremely important in your adaptable earth sign. When overdone, you can easily become a hypochondriac. The month before your birthday can have you full of more worry than usual. The more you gather only logical info regarding your health at the expense of not listening to your intuition, the more you will fear the worse. And, who’d want to suffer from a basic fear of self-fulfilling prophecy? It will be a better idea to believe in those allegedly irrational beings like fairies, mermaids, angels and invisible aid. At least open your narrowly analytical brain to seeing a more whimsical side to life. Deliberately court superstition and make way for happy magic. After all, the brain is an alien organ, no one knows everything this it is capable of, and, a little suspension of disbelief can go a long, long way with you.
Libra/Libra Rising* (Sep 23-Oct 22): You can be moody and overly sensitive, especially when you have overextended yourself for some unappreciative people in your life. Speak up and out! Tell those who’ve taken you for granted that they’re going to miss you when you’re gone and you’re not easily replaced. Mars has been kicking up a shit storm in compatible air sign of Gemini for the last six weeks. This warrior energy has been inciting you to defend your sacred cows. If nothing is sacred because of your realization that there’s nothing higher or holy, well, go on an adventure to discover life’s meaning. Extend yourself into yourself. Balance the free spirit with responsible mating. Mars is primal and Gemini seeks variety. Together, they teach you to be more self-confident about what you know to be true about you. You have been to you, no?
And, that’s you, as an individual.
Scorpio/Scorpio Rising* (Oct 23-Nov 21): It’s all about the soul with you. The highest and deepest self that keeps track of your personal history and connection. Your soul wants to bond with other like-minded souls. Whether you like it or not, you are seen as an inspiration. Your brilliant energy shines through because you have triumphed over loss. You understand pain. However, one difference between an old soul and a younger one is the older one waits around for contextual explanation. History matters; evidence must be gathered. Very few extreme acts of pain and/or pleasure happen in a vacuum. Our souls act as a witness to all essential connections with other souls. Your blatant authenticity that’s so fucking magnetic sources itself through your soul overtaking your conditioned ego. Whether it’s the unabashed smile through your pure tone of voice or a dominant lover knowing their partner’s needs, the effect is the same … bonds transcending time and space a.k.a. soul mates. Check out Aquarius’ message.
Sagittarius/Sagittarius Rising* (Nov 22-Dec 19): Did my present life drama run over your past life karma? Karma a.k.a. ‘reaping what you sow’ is easy to define, but not so much when it comes to recognizing when you have it. That ‘on again, off again’ relationship or coworker that makes you wish you had chosen a different curriculum, and one of my favorites ‘baby mama/daddy’, those are karmas. If you be intense about an issue, you can bet your ass, it is karma. You were born to synthesize many different schools of religious or spiritual thought. All roads leading to the same place, huh? That’s why in your early life you may have been born to fundamentalists, hippies or anyone who tried to cram their ideas down your throat. Secular education can be worshipped, too. It’d be best to debate and argue (while seeking peace) than to pretend that you agree with another’s perspective. You might get more (fill in the blank) from those who disagree with you than those with whom you sit on the same pew. Read Scorpio now.
Capricorn/Capricorn Rising* (Dec 21-Jan 19): Read Sagittarius first. While they tend to have the protection of their karmic assets (opportunities galore), you tend toward karmic liabilities (must you work twice as hard for the same rewards?). Face it, you do not trust anything or anyone given too easily. Scheeh, the phrases “too good to be true” and “read the fine print” were written by you. The karmic liability planet, Saturn, moves through incompatible Libra, causing the kind of havoc you could too easily get used to. Beat the dog long enough, he has no spirit remaining. Enter in the karmic asset planet (Jupiter) from compatible Taurus giving you a new lease of just what you are worth. Wouldn’t a love affair or an exceptional artistic epiphany be just what the star doctor ordered? Make a sacrifice to loving Venus, and soften, soften, soften, let your cynicism ooze away, then perceive more love than you have allowed for a long, long while.
Aquarius/Aquarius Rising*(Jan 20-Feb 19): Scorpio has some things to tell you. Stop and go to their paragraph, please. I know, you’ve got other stuff to concentrate on. However, you are learning to mix the old with the new. Imagine the distinction between the revolutionary and reformer. Is it enough of a difference? The reformer looks to her support system, those with whom she has a history. The revolutionary searches outside to garner support to change what she does not like. She may be a group of one. And, typically, you are this group of one when your rational mind has no idea why you are going off onto the tangent(s) you are going off on. Karma just very well may be that, having no idea why, but you feel you must. So what you speak primarily mental language? The mind must have a feeling component at some point; otherwise, the few get sacrificed for the many. The revolutionary can steep their outlooks in misplaced idealism; the reformer knows that there is something valuable from our collective pasts. Besides, who’d want to throw the baby out with the bath water, unless said bath water has not been regulated by the EPA.
Pisces/Pisces Rising (Feb 18-Mar 20): “Love Is a Losing Game” is my favorite song by the late Amy Winehouse. This songs’ iambic pentameter was taught in English classes in the U.K. Those 2.5 minutes of a tune could be repeatedly played (and oh, did I). Though I’m battle blind/Love is a fate resigned/And memories mar my mind/Love is a fate resigned/Over futile odds/And laughed at by the gods/And now the final frame/Love is a losing game. It is that kind of unchecked source belief that can be your relationship downfall. The past has enthralled you. You refuse to see anything beyond what has already happened to you. It is time for an enema-like adjustment in your thinking. Love does not have to be a losing game, no more than Ms. Winehouse had to allegedly refuse whatever help was offered to her (and does our repressed society collude in creating free-spirited ‘artists’?). I bought her CDs, so, do we enable them? At what point are we all our sister’s keeper? At what point have we become obsessed with political correctness? The losing game happens when we do not at least ask the question of our responsibility to each other. Start with those closest and work concentrically out from there. And, this New Moon in Leo, (Saturday, July 30 @ 140p CDT), gives you a “final” frame to work on health, more efficient daily routines and looking forward to helping others. Continued in Sagittarius …
Aries/Aries Rising* (Mar 21-Apr 19): Ever found yourself watching a couple during their PDA? For those of you who have been under a rock, PDA stands for Public Displays of Affection. Anyway, this upcoming New Moon in Leo (7/30 @ 140p CDT) will have you reconsidering your ‘git her done’ Aries card. You are a participatory fire sign. Sure, you want to stir things up and want to be starting something, thanks to Marley and Michael, yet, it is important to take a chill pill. Watch and learn, instead of, rushing to acting or judgment. New Moon work well when you plant seeds. This one wants you to take the long term view. It is ok to retreat from too much activity (or even an argument) when you know what you want later, in the future. And, hell, the PDA, you’ve observed? Maybe old rams can learn new tricks …
Taurus/Taurus Rising* (Apr 20-May 21): You know you can be possessive, right? Possessiveness is not the same as jealousy. A pride in your partner is distinctly different from accusation or worry about losing said partner. Pride and its hidden virtue of self-respect works wonders for your self-esteem. However, present planetary placements demand a reshuffling of your normal responses. It is OK to not know what to do or say. You do not have to have physical control of each environment. Before your laid back ass denies this is you, think. Your reserve is a way to control others. By keeping your cards too close to your chest, you wait us out, get us to demonstrate what we will do for you. It is only after you’ve committed that your insecurities begin to show. And, when that happens, you overcompensate, become excessive and lose the higher ground. All we ask is know why you get coy, shy or reserved. Knowing why helps with the reconciliation process. Making up can be fun.
Gemini/Gemini Rising* (May 21-Jun 20): Life simply works, when you work with it … but, you must know how you speak about life. For all air signs (Libra and Aquarius included), thoughts are things; thoughts are your reality. So, it is how you see life in your mind that circulates, moves you. So, sue your mind’s eye, a.k.a. imagination, to see the possibilities of all you could create. Given an active and prioritizing spirit coupled with a glib but charming cadence, you have the helmet that reflects Medusa’s severed head (hello, Clash of the Titans). You have the mind of a warrior. Therefore, no turning to stone for you. When ill, chicken soup works wonders just like tryptophan in turkey puts you to sleep as does the Detroit Tigers vs. Dallas Cowboys on that special Thanksgiving Thursday. That amino acid aids our digestive system, and like your sibling sign of Virgo, it can be all about how you assimilate your intake (hello, Food Pyramid). Behave like our FLOTUS, please eat more than 1,500 calories hamburger meal, that is, break some of your own rules. No frozen identity allowed; you are entirely too grand for that … ask Mary on 19th Street in the Crossroads.
Cancer/Cancer Rising* (Jun 21-July 21): Start with an affirmation. Yes, we are doing so woo-woo magical stuff. Think and feel this positive present sense statement: “I am grateful that I am enough. As action hero Mars finishes up his stint in your 12th house of self-undoing, mysticism and faith, you are ready stop doubting and start doing. Begin to educate others around you that you are not weak but just waiting for your opportunity to shine. You see, you must feel the need to act. Sure, you can play the role of protective parent in your sleep. But, who protects the protectors? From August 3 through September 18, Mars does. The red planet’s energies will aid you in healthy self-assertion. You will see how you’ve grown as well as those joined to you by their roots. It is about how you’ve chosen to make your families strong, be they of the traditional variety or not. Mars gives you the courage to leave behind a family member or two or several who do not agree with your life’s choices (which is like a death for you). When this happens, you must choose another family that will love you, and that you find easy to love in return. Love saves the day, keeps us together, lifts us up (where we belong) … that’s enough diddies. Remember, “I am so grateful that (fill in the blank)”.
