Out of Time & Space Astrology

Capricorn/Capricorn Rising* (Dec 21-Jan 19): Inspiration for you can sometimes feel like a part-time job. You have an uncanny ability to make your life more difficult than it has to be. 2012 will require a conscious choice of dissolution of your attachment to how you think about what you own. If you haven’t learned it already, everything works out in the end. You tend to want to know how in lieu of possessing faith. To have faith demands a willingness to suspend the methodical process of how self-actualization should occur. This Monday’s full moon has all the makings of how you ride the seesaw of self-consciousness and awareness of others. The more you focus on what you can do for others, the less likely you’ll fall into a neurotic trap of feeling like you are not enough. You are.

Aquarius/Aquarius Rising*(Jan 20-Feb 19): Sometimes a warrior has to go up the hill for a battle for which he will not return. Since November, you have been called to make sacrifices for the greater good. To strengthen your intimate relationships, you realize that you must delve into our motivations and our needs. Like Sisyphus, you sense that you start the ball rolling up the hill only to see it roll back down again. Managing your expectations can make all the difference between having more pleasant encounters and walking around gloomily thinking about worst-case scenarios. Playing the role of warrior (especially when you know why the battle happened in the first place) resoundingly beats being a servant to an unfulfilling relationship. Know what you value as you observe what others feel is worth fighting for. Maybe it’s all relative, but that’s no excuse to fight just for the sake of fighting. Peacemaker is a role you can play, too.

Pisces/Pisces Rising (Feb 18-Mar 20): Like Aquarians, you can feel that your only recourse is role playing. Both signs are transpersonal. It’s not enough for you to be concerned with just you and yours; you must tackle the larger collective issues. Even if it is simply a prayer or mediation for the less fortunate, it is important to lend your energies to those who have less. When you focus only on yourself and your success, there can be the classic “divine discontent.” This feeling that something is missing prods you on to contemplate the timeless truths and golden rules.

Aries/Aries Rising* (Mar 21-Apr 19): This full moon on Monday, January 9, highlights your ongoing struggle to balance your ambitions to make your mark in your chosen career and your need to retreat into your private space where love and acceptance abound. No doubt you have immense energy to perfect your work or craft. However, it is best to slow down to realize that perfection is not 100 percent. If it were, you’d have no further place to continue any evolution. This is one year to not go back on any resolutions. It may take a longer time than usual for them to stick, but discipline wins the day.

Taurus/Taurus Rising* (Apr 20-May 21): You were born to produce something of value as a legacy. Sounds lofty? Yet, you are the only concentrated earth sign born in the middle of spring. Like the celebration of Beltane (May 1), you are a symbol of fertility. To think about the beginning of summer in winter keeps your heart warm and open. As you pursue what you love, you create art, romance and joy with all you contact. If you are going to worry, concern yourself with the morally unavoidable aspect of your effect upon the children around you. Face it, no matter how they protest, they do look to sound and stable adults to guide them. Find a symbolic Maypole to represent something in common and to dance around. You are a touchstone (and role model), whether you like it or not.

Gemini/Gemini Rising* (May 21-Jun 20): It has been said that “home is where the heart is,” but what does your mind think about home? On a practical level, Monday’s full moon brings up how much you will spend on your home. Renovations, repairs and updating its energy costs for winter are a major part of your priorities. On a psychological tip, it is important to reassess your family structure and its interdependence. Is each member concerned about the success of the others? Have you taken a stance on what you know to be true but unsaid? Your heart cannot marinate in denial. You have so much to offer in terms of your penetrating insight. Please use it.

Cancer/Cancer Rising* (Jun 21-July 21): You shine at full moons. The next one on Monday, January 9, at 1:30am CST is in your sign. You’ll feel alive with authenticity, knowing who you are and, more importantly, how to express it with confidence. This time of year has you entering into the world of business, looking to find worthwhile investments. It is important that you remember how much people capital is worth and how to cultivate it. A thank-you note or card sent through the mail would work wonders. Take that extra time to let those closest know how much they mean to you. Turn your mind away from obsessing on what our response may or may not be. Just give freely and you’ll know what we feel.

Leo/Leo Rising* (July 22-Aug 22): When you feel that you’re blocked from your power, you can overcompensate and become controlling. When you feel relaxed and confident, your radiance is hard to resist or ignore. 2012’s first full moon brings you face to face with your imperfections. It is not to humiliate you. Capricorn represents the hard work you need to evolve in order to become a more mature spirit, one who delivers the goods. In other words, you have heft beyond being indispensable at your work. You learn to let go of what and whom you cannot control. Then you can focus on what brings you passion and self-actualization. For you, a bit of self-obsession leads to healthy self-improvement. Then we all benefit by simply being in your presence to bask in your light.

Virgo/Virgo Rising* (Aug 22-Sept 22): You have been building your self-image one brick at a time since mid-November. Whether it’s a more chiseled appearance or toning a muscle group, you have more energy. The increased vitality is a plus, but it’s more than about the surface. You have more desire to self-assert. No longer do you have to be overly concerned about what we think. The more you focus on how you want your relationships to transform into mutual works of art, the more you can relax. Both parties must be apprised of what each is willing to bring to the table. This full moon (January 9 at 1:30am CST) can increase your worries. Let your intuition guide you to the relevant facts of how to improve all of your closest connections. If anything, worry about how to put your rational mind into larger frameworks. Unless you’re about to walk in front of a car, intuition is not likely to be the screaming voice within your head. It is that “small still voice within.”

Libra/Libra Rising* (Sep 23-Oct 22): Since the fall of 2009, you’ve had the repressing energy of Saturn in your sign. Your physical body has had less drive but more focus on what is truly necessary. But these energies have to go somewhere. You can try depression or melancholy. Or you can tip your other scale and look like you’re a Puritan and work the meat off your bones. Saturn and this upcoming full moon teach moderation. Sure, you want to know what makes everyone tick. But you cannot be all things to all people without losing chunks of your essential self, aka your soul. Release your internal blocks, invent a better way to connect to yourself intellectually and emotionally, and then your relationships will improve.

Scorpio/Scorpio Rising* (Oct 23-Nov 21): Deepening your inner life through meditation, prayer, visualization and other spiritual practices has been a shifting focus for the past two years. Resist the temptation to judge how much you could have done. Just do more as you go into 2012. Illuminating a clear path between fact and revelation has never been more important to you. The more you look to science, the more mysteries will be unfolding. The more you look to your spirit, the more you’ll want to ground your inner vision into the so-called “real world.” Many abodes or many dimensions, it does not matter. What matters is to have the resolve to be and live at peace, regardless of what the universe moves toward you.

Sagittarius/Sagittarius Rising* (Nov 22-Dec 19): An adage of spirituality states, “I am the other you; you are the other me.” Simply another take on that 1980s humanitarian hit “We Are the World.” As the only adaptable fire (spiritual) sign, you learn how to live each moment aligned with a larger vision for how each culture can truly get along with one another. It will have to begin with a major transformation of organized religion. That’s why it is infinitely better to refer to yourself as “spiritual.” The spiritual designation requires you to take more personal responsibility for your higher development from a position of integrity, not a following of some mixed (pagan holidays with Christian overlay) dogma. Know your history, and then you can stand up for anything that inspires you.
