Some medical researchers argue that these similarities are sensory phenomena with a purely neurological basis. The International Association for Near-Death Studies, an organization that includes health-care
professionals, researchers and those who have had near-death experiences, publicly explores these issues. A new Kansas City chapter holds its kickoff meeting today at
1 p.m. at Unity Temple on the Plaza (707 West 47th Street, 816-561-4466). Guest speaker Paul Lero, who nearly drowned in 1974 in La Cygne, Kansas, will tell his story.
