Ones, Zeros and Treble Clefs

Music and art come together to bring Kansas City a night of premier electronic music, courtesy of homegrown bass extraordinaire Jeremy Baguyos. The Charlotte Street Foundation’s Urban Culture Project and the Kansas City Electronic Music & Arts Alliance present Back to the Source Code, a project developed by Baguyos that marries digital music and electroacoustic bass lines by exploring the artist’s past in the Shawnee Mission School District and interest in original, obsolete technology. Baguyos, a professor of music technology and double bass at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, performs an improvisational recital of dissonant sounds that resolve into solid beats and bouncing riffs — an aural treat for anyone interested in the manufacturing of sound and the chaos of electronic music. The interdisciplinary show starts at 8 p.m. at La Esquina (1000 West 25th Street). Tickets cost $10, but students can score half-price tickets by presenting a student ID. See kcema.net.— Jenny Kratz
