One million cases of Boulevard beer sold means a party — and free beer

A million cases of Boulevard beer sounds like a helluva party — and a huge milestone.

And it’s a little bit of both on Tuesday.

Central States Beverage, which distributes Boulevard’s beers throughout the greater Kansas City area, will mark its millionth case of Boulevard beer sold in the metro in 2014 with a delivery — and a celebration — at Kelly’s Westport Inn from 4 to 6 p.m. Part of that party includes an open tab. That’s right. For those two hours at Kelly’s, Boulevard beer is on CSBev.

UPDATE: Boulevard founder John McDonald will be at Kelly’s to hand off case No. 1 million to Kelly’s owner Kyle Kelly at 4 p.m. Also, customers will be given a ticket for a free beer at the door.

“Without Kansas City’s support we couldn’t have done this,” John Poteet, CSBev’s vice president of marketing, told The Pitch. “Stop by [Kelly’s] tomorrow, and the chances of us buying you a beer is pretty high.”

That’s an offer we can’t refuse.
