Olathe police use phony construction zone to nab drunk drivers

As if you needed another reason to call a cab when you’re wasted, the Olathe Police Department has spiced up the boring old DUI checkpoint. Drunken Kansans trying to drive home no longer must merely have to keep sharp eyes out for checkpoint signs and officers wielding breathalyzers. That’s far too easy.
Last night, the tricky Olate PD set up a Cinco de Mayo stop and disguised it as a road-construction zone, KCTV5 reports. As motorists passed a cop dressed up like a road worker, the officer glanced inside each vehicle looking for unbuckled riders. He then notified waiting police, who administered sobriety tests to drivers who appeared intoxicated and issued citations for driving while not buckled up.
