One vote is all that stood between the Kansas Senate overturning Gov. Mark Parkinson‘s veto of a bill that would change how late-term abortions are reported.
The 26-14 vote just missed the needed two-thirds majority for an override of the bill, which would have required late-term abortion providers to tell the Kansas Department of Health and Environment the “exact medical diagnosis” for the procedure. The bill also would have allowed doctors to be sued if a late-term abortion was performed illegally.
Earlier this week, the
House pulled off an override veto on a second try.
