Off-Season’s Greetings
To Royals fans, the baseball cliché “Wait ’til next year” can seem more like a threat than a promise. The 2008 off-season, which begins after today’s game against the Cleveland Indians, is different. Unlike past seasons, the Royals lost with a purpose in 2007, bringing hope to long-suffering fans. Zack Greinke battled his personal demons and regained the form that made him one of the game’s most promising young pitchers. Alex Gordon rebounded from an excruciating start, and left-fielder Billy Butler emerged as one of the best young hitters in the American League. Most important, General Manager Dayton Moore found good commodities in players discarded or ignored by other clubs. For once, Royals fans greet the winter with
a unique feeling — hope. Tickets cost $8 to $30. Call 816-504-4040 for information.
