Off the Couch

“We’re going to raise the bar on this show. When we go to the point of tastelessness and people yelling and screaming and shouting people down and the noises where it irritates people, that’s what bothers me. It’s a fine line I’m gonna ask people to walk, and I’m going to ask people to walk it.”
— Jason Whitlock, WHB 810

“Jason Whitlock’s Neighborhood will give you two chances a month to score a date with a local hottie. The fun begins on Valentine’s Day at Hooters in Overland Park. The Neighborhood will broadcast live, and one lucky contestant will play our game, ‘Who Wants to Date a Hooters Girl?’ for the honor of sharing Valentine’s Day with one of Hooters’ finest.”

GH: Whitlock might be the first person to attempt to raise the bar while standing on it.

“There will be more [auto] racing on radio this year than in the history of this city.” — Kevin Kietzman, 810

“Tim Grunhard, right now, is in the evaluation process.”
— Dick Vermeil, when asked whether the Chiefs would try to re-sign the Chiefs’ eleven-year veteran, 810

GH: Grunhard has stated that he is not interested in taking a pay cut if he returns to the Chiefs. There is no way he’ll return to the Chiefs without accepting a huge pay cut. It’s time for Grunhard to retire and start on that broadcasting career he has coveted for so long.

“We’ve got to be lucky, we’ve got to stay healthy and, above all, we’ve got to be lucky.”
Vermeil, on what it will take for the Chiefs to make the 2002 Super Bowl, KMBZ 980

“Let’s stop sugarcoating this. The people at Arrowhead want to win. I guarantee you if they can find five felons who will help them win, they’ll be leading the parade.”
— Pete Enich, 980
