Norway’s Favorite Daughter

Eleven years later, it’s about as uncool to admit enjoying Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” as it is to say the movie that made it famous is your favorite. But not everything about the Titanic soundtrack is cheesy and dated. How about those wrenchingly gorgeous wordless vocals — primal-sounding oohs that recall the song of an icy sea siren? Dion didn’t make them. That was Sissel, Norway’s most famous female singer. She has a brand-new album out — Northern Lights — and she’s showing off her operatic voice tonight at 7:30 at the Folly Theater (1020 Central). Tickets cost $52 and $42. Call 816-931-3330.
