Normal Human opens this weekend in Westport
One of the leading purveyors of KC-themed gear in town, Normal Human announced a few months back that it would be moving its operation from downtown Mission to Westport proper, in the space formerly inhabited by Spivey’s Books, at 827 Westport Road.
The shop — which, unlike the Mission space, will keep regular business hours — formally opens this Saturday at 10 a.m. In addition to its own shirts and prints, Normal Human will also sell merchandise from other local makers that the shop’s owners — Pat Egger and Dan Mahaney — have met doing pop-up shops the past few years: Basement Soap, Kira Terrey Jewelry, Owl + Mouse, Re-bot Lifeform Manufacturing Co, and Sandlot Goods.
“No matter how good our own product is, there’s just not a lot of draw to a T-shirt-centric retail shop. So we decided to diversify our product offering by seeking out some of the best local makers, who we think will complement our own products well,” co-owner Dan Mahaney says.
A grand-opening celebration will be held later in the day, at 6 p.m.
