No “Freebird”

If there’s no business like show business, then it stands to reason that there aren’t any tunes like show tunes. And if there aren’t any tunes like show tunes, then there’s no karaoke like show-tunes karaoke. But consider that it’s nearly impossible to find anything from West Side Story, let alone Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, in those song-list binders. So disappointing. The Barn Players, a community-theater group based in Mission, is looking to soothe this misery by putting on Broadway Karaoke at the Barn (6219 Martway in Mission, 913-432-9100) tonight. Such humanitarians! Karaoke runs from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. (after that night’s production of Cabaret, running at the Barn through November 22). Karaoke tickets cost $5 and must be purchased separately from theater tickets; all proceeds fund the Barn’s stage productions.
