NL Central Ticket Preview: Pirates Tickets Still A Bargain Despite Postseason Run

We will be running periodic ticket previews for all MLB teams visiting Kauffman Stadium this year, starting with the NL Central. The only team that will be visiting Kansas City this season from the NL Central will be the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals and Royals have been playing each other ever since Interleague Play began so they’ve built a bit of a rivalry together, and that’s reflected in the ticket prices. Here’s a breakdown on some games to see and how much it will cost you.

The Cardinals will visit Kauffman Stadium June 4th through June 6th for a three game set about a month before the All-Star break. The average ticket price for all three games is right around $115, with neither game exceeding $118 or below $113. The get-in price for all three games is similar as well, with $32 for the series finale and $33 for the first two. The Cards are always a particularly big draw with many Cardinals fans living in the Kansas City area and it shows as these tickets are generally twice the amount of other Royals games this season, in terms of average price.

Although the Cardinals are the only team to visit Kauffman this year, that doesn’t mean you can’t make a short trip out to Cincinnati, Chicago, Milwaukee, or Pittsburgh to see some other teams play. One team that the Cardinals will have to deal with this year if they are to repeat as National League champions are the Pittsburgh Pirates. Though the Pirates made the playoffs for the first time in several decades last year, it’s still a relative bargain to see them play. Other than Opening Day and a visit from the World Series champion Red Sox, you can grab Pittsburgh Pirates tickets for any game for less than $15. With the team definitely on the rise, now is the time to see them play while ticket prices stay so low.
