New Prairie Artisan Ales releases hit KC, Rock & Run’s Kearney tasting room opens and more beer events
Keep a lookout for new beers from Prairie Artisan Ales on store shelves now. Among the Tulsa, Oklahoma, brewery’s latest releases: Prairie Weisse (Berliner Weisse) and Prairie Ace (a candy-sugar saison with Sorachi Ace hops). And look for this big beer on tap: Paradise (a 13-percent ABV imperial stout with coconut and vanilla).
In other news: Jolly Pumpkin’s collaboration with Monkish, Cucurbitophobia (meaning fear of pumpkins), should be out next week. This saison was aged in oak barrels with a blend of both breweries’ house cultures.
Get a beer with Gene DeClue and the Rock & Run crew as they crack open the new Kearney production brewery and taproom (115 West Washington Street, Kearney) at 4 p.m. This is a temporary space until the original space reopens in the fall.
The next Smokin’ Guns BBQ beer dinner (1218 Swift, North Kansas City) features Defiance Brewing Co. out of Hays, Kansas.
Mother’s Brewing Co. is the featured brewery at Rock & Brews (5701 West 135th Street, Overland Park), and tonight at 6 the taps feature Rated R imperial stout (it’s not MILF, but it’s pretty good), Lil’ Helper Midcoast IPA, Loopty Loop Helles lager and PG-13 English bitter.
Get a taste of Crane Brewing beer — and pizza — at Spin (9474 Renner Boulevard, Lenexa).
The next edition of Most Intense Happy Hour at Onelife Fitness (1261 Main) goes down from 5 to 7 p.m. Break a sweat — they call it intense for a reason — and then drink a beer from Mother’s.
Waldo Pizza (7433 Broadway) taps 10 Barrel Joe IPA, Lagunitas Equinox Pale Oat Ale and Elysian Superfuzz blood-orange pale ale today, so order a pizza and belly up.

Free State is the featured happy hour at Bier Station (120 East Gregory Boulevard) from 4 to 7 p.m. Go for discounts on Yakimaniac IPA and Oktoberfest.
