Some people wouldn’t seek a new life path after a significant brain injury. But for Jason Wood, it was a bike accident and a subsequent injury that led the once-aspiring writer to art. With his first gallery show, Woods demonstrates how terrible events sometimes yield great results. His mixed-media pieces utilize found objects such as cans and tree branches — turbulent and muscular, the textural works contrast with the intimate size of the recently opened Invisible Hand Gallery (801-1/2 Massachusetts). Adam Smith has designed his new Lawrence venue to display new and local artists while also focusing on affordable art. Tonight’s reception goes from 7 to 9. The exhibit remains on display through June 3. For more information, call 785-813-1803.
