NBC News profiles the mother of Kansas City’s streets (updated)

Update: Yesterday, I called NBC Nightly News‘ profile of Marcia Merrick‘s work to feed Kansas City’s homeless population a “feel good” story. It’s not feeling so good now.
In the comments, Victoria Hudgins wrote that Brian Williams and NBC didn’t tell the full story. Merrick is on the verge of being homeless herself.
If she does not raise the money she needs to buy
out her husband’s interest in their house, she will be without a home
on May 31st. That’s the real story, which I am covering on my blog and
on Twitter.
On her blog, Hudgins writes that the buyout is $60,000, which Merrick doesn’t have, and she’s struggling to get by already (her alimony barely covers her Cobra medical insurance).
