My New TV Set talk Michael Cera music video

The film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World by Edgar Wright (of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Spaced) is becoming the equivalent of a tentpole film for indie rock fans. (Beck perfoms as the film’s band Sex Bob-Omb, and Broken Social Scene are featured as another fake band called Crash and the Boys.)

To promote the film, Universal Studios and SonicBids teamed up for the “Indie Rock vs. The World” talent contest. A panel narrowed a list of eight songs from 100 tunes. Kansas City’s My New TV Set are currently one of the eight finalists, who produced a video with clips from the film. The band’s vocalist and guitarist, Dustin McKarmie, broke it down with us about the band’s shot at fame.
