Murs

What happens when you let workaholics out of straitjackets? They go wild. That’s the plan for feted underground rapper Murs, who is promising 10 different 10-track albums in 2010, to be collected in an end-of-the-year boxed set. Recently freed from his contract with Warner Bros., for which he released the critically lauded Murs for President in 2008, Murs has a bevy of collaborations in the pipeline. The 17-year career of the limber-lipped Los Angeles native has been characterized by music that reflects everyday concerns. The latest release, Fornever, a collaboration with 9th Wonder, features songs about smoking kush on his momma’s porch and convincing his girl to postpone an argument until halftime. His versatile, emotionally candid raps come off like your best friend’s backseat musings.
