Going out to eat for Thanksgiving? Hope you have a reservation: Plaza restaurants are pretty booked around the 6:30 p.m. Plaza lighting ceremony. Plaza III Steakhouse (4749 Pennsylvania, 816-753-0000) plans a traditional meal for $21.95 a person. McCormick & Schmick’s (448 West 47th Street, 816-531-6800) offers its regular menu, along with a traditional Thanksgiving menu, for $24.95 a person. Sister restaurant M&S Grill (4646 J.C. Nichols Parkway, 816-531-7799‎) prepares three Thanksgiving main courses: ham, turkey or prime rib for $15.95, $17.95 and $19.95, respectively. Capital Grille (4740 Jefferson, 816-531-8345), open its regular hours and offering its usual menu, also has a Thanksgiving menu that costs $26 to $30 a person.

The best seat to view the lights is not on the Plaza itself but right across the street. The Intercontinental Hotel (401 Ward Parkway, 816-756-1500‎) serves a five-course meal in its Oak Room for $80 a person. On its panoramic roof, it serves an upscale buffet for $60 a person.

Many non-Plaza restaurants are also serving meals: Benton’s (1 East Pershing Road, 816-391-4460‎) offers an early Thanksgiving brunch until 3:30 p.m. for $49 a person. In the West Bottoms, the Golden Ox (1600 Genessee, 816-842-2866) has a Thanksgiving Day buffet for $17.95 a person. The Bristol Seafood Grill (51 East 14th Street, 816-448-6007) serves a traditional buffet with special touches such as biscuits and oysters-on-the-half-shell for $24.95 a person. If you’re looking for that traditional meal at a lower price, there’s always Piccadilly Cafeteria (11741 Metcalf in Overland Park, 913-345-9849), which serves a turkey dinner with two sides, a drink and slice of pie for $6.99 a person.
