More like Andrew WTF, am I right?

It’s been bubbling under for a year or two, but in the past few weeks, the rumors surrounding Andrew W.K. and who/what he is have really begun to gain steam.

Let me try and explain:

1) Ever since Andrew W.K. first appeared on the scene, there’ve been rumors that he was just a guy paid to perform, and that the songs on I Get Wet were actually done by Dave Grohl.

2) TPeople started wondering who this guy “Steev Mike” who’s produced several of the albums.

3) Rumors began to circulate that Steev Mike was Andrew W.K. and Andrew W.K. has actually been a part “played” by several individuals.

4) Now there’s this video where Andrew W.K. says, “I’m not the guy you’ve seen from the I Get Wet album… I’m not that same person. I don’t just mean that in a philosophical or conceptual way. It’s not the same person at all…”

Make any sense? Probably not. I’d never heard anything about this until two days ago, and it’s like discovering the Kennedy assassination for the first time. There are some people who’ve put some serious time and effort into this.

It only gets more confusing when Andrew W.K. issued the following statement on his website over the weekend: I work with undisclosed people but I am not part of a conspiracy…Taking advice from other people doesn’t mean I’m a victim of mind-control.”

The whole thing may or may not be resolved when Andrew W.K. speaks on the subject at the Santos Party House in New York on February 23. We’ll keep you posted.
