Mojitos, Please

Besides the swizzle stick, the muddler is probably the coolest bar instrument ever. Just the word muddler is awesome. And at Mojito Mondays at One80 (435 Westport Road), the pestle-style tool is put to good use. That’s because from 5 p.m. until close, pitchers of the lovely summer drink cost $10 to $15.
The muddler gently crushes the fresh mint, and then sugar syrup, rum and soda are added. The rum choices include the house brand, Cruzon Mango and three types of Bacardi (regular, peach or limón). The bar also offers free salsa lessons and dancing starting around 9 p.m. “It’s usually one of our better happy hours,” says General Manager Paul Janasz. He adds that the bar gets a steady crowd throughout the night. “We usually sell about 35 pitchers, which is not a bad thing.” Let the muddling begin. For more information, call 816-389-4180.
