Mizzou football coach Gary Pinkel arrested for DWI

UPDATE: Mizzou football coach Gary Pinkel and MU athletics director Mike Alden have released statements about Pinkel’s DWI arrest. And Pinkel reportedly won’t be coaching for a week. Read them after the jump.
Original Story: Mizzou head football coach Gary Pinkel was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Columbia last night. KRCG Channel 13 in Columbia reports: “Deputies stopped Pinkel for lane and signal violations. Deputies said they had probable cause to believe he was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and took him into custody. Deputies said Pinkel was cooperative during his arrest.”
It is reportedly Pinkel’s first DWI arrest, and he was released on bail. The Star‘s Mike DeArmond has this curious detail: “Officers of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest near the Missouri Orthopedic Institute, a medical facility at which Missouri running back Henry Josey is being treated following Sunday surgery for a season-ending knee injury.”
Strange. The Tigers take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday in Columbia.
