Missouri’s plan to put Enhanced Security Tabs on your car is laughable

Since people get their vehicle registration sticker ripped right off the plate every day in Missouri, and especially in the metro, the state’s Department of Revenue has announced a supposedly great idea to deter theft and make it easier for cops to tell if you’re driving around with stolen tags.

With the Enhanced Security Tabs — announced just a month or so ago — you’ll be able to see numbers on the sticker’s right-hand side that will match your license plate number. The idea is, your tags are now worthless on their own, so why bother to scrape them off? The plan’s only weakness is that it is stupid.
