Missouri to explore conference affiliation; Bill Self says basketball Border War may end if Mizzou bolts

The University of Missouri is now in an open relationship with the Big 12. After the Big 12 proposed a long-term commitment to its members (the granting of TV rights for somewhere between six and 13 years), the Missouri Board of Curators granted chancellor Brady Deaton permission to explore Mizzou’s conference affiliation.
In turn, Deaton resigned as chair of the Big 12 board of directors, a reasonable move given that the Big 12 is looking at expansion, and you can’t have a member with a foot out the door leading the charge.
This all sets up Missouri’s potential departure from the Big 12 and the possible end of rivalries with Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State. Big 12 interim commissioner Chuck Neinas is scheduled to meet with Deaton today, the Star reported.
