Missouri Senate wants to punish all drivers who text … not just those under 21

Not all texters are created equal. In Missouri, if you’re 21 or younger, it’s illegal to text while driving. Not that banning texting for a younger generation makes much sense since the youngins probably have better hand-eye coordination and can text faster than a bunch of olds, but that’s not the point.
Earlier this week, the Missouri Senate passed the first round of a bill that would ban all motorists from texting while driving. The fine: up to $200. Missouri state Sen. Ryan McKenna (D-Crystal City) is sponsoring the bill. But he’s getting opposition from lawmakers who want to let you do whatever you want in your car, like Missouri state Sen. Chuck Pugason.
