Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison takes a gun-control bill to the shooting range (video)
In a video released on YouTube yesterday, Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison attempts to shoot a few holes in the logic behind House Bill 545, which makes it a Class C felony to “import, possess, purchase, sell, or transfer any assault weapon or large capacity magazine.” Then, Burlison has a few holes shot in a paper copy of the bill at the shooting range where the video was filmed.
“If you don’t relinquish these weapons, then you’ll be a felon,” explains Burlison, “and you’ll potentially serve in jail for up to seven years. And so, um, severity, drastic bill, but wanted to see what people’s opinions are of this bill.”
Burlison next interviews a man and a woman in the shop portion of the range. The woman is concerned that the state will come for her grandfather’s guns. The man suggests that this has all been tried before with no real benefit. The state representative last talks to a young man, who suggests that this is a great bill….for target practice. The video’s final image is of a smiling Burlison holding up a bullet-riddled copy of the bill.
