- Think Missouri could ever just be good at math?
It will never be the state slogan, but nobody makes meth like Missouri. The latest numbers have been released by the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Show Me state continues to show the rest of the nation that its citizens are dedicated to cooking methamphetamine. With 1,825 cook labs discovered by law-enforcement officials, Missouri is once again the leader in meth-lab seizures [h/t Riverfront Times].
To those who want to parse out the numbers, The Pitch’s David Martin wrote about Independence’s struggle with the label of “Meth City USA” and learned that Missouri records all seizures (regardless of size) as “labs.” And while Missouri had the highest number of seizures in 2012, it was less than the 2,075 labs broken up in 2011. It’s a bleak bit of progress in what is becoming an annual tradition for the state.
