Missouri makes pitch to Matt Painter; Purdue blames Purdue donors for potential departure

In the next 24 hours, we could (should? maybe?) know whether Matt Painter is leaving his alma mater to become the next basketball coach at the University of Missouri.

Here’s what we do know (via the Columbia Daily Tribune): Mizzou athletic director Mike Alden flew to Florida to meet with Painter about the job vacated by Mike Anderson, who bolted for Arkansas last week. There were reports Monday that Mizzou had offered Painter a seven-year contract worth about $2 million per season, and one anonymous source said there was “better than a 50 percent chance that Painter would accept an offer.”
