Michelle Preston dismissed from Shawnee Mission West after allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student

The female Shawnee Mission West High School teacher accused of carrying on an inappropriate relationship with
a student has lost her job. The Star reported that the school board voted against renewing the probationary contract of Michelle Preston, a
third-year psychology and world geography instructor and cheerleading coach. The board reportedly cited a violation of district policy forbidding inappropriate behavior with students as a reason for her dismissal.
Preston had been on administrative leave since March 7 after school officials received a report that Preston was allegedly carrying on an inappropriate relationship with a student. She has 10 days to appeal her firing.
