Michael Wilson, 18, shot and killed at 94th and Cleveland

The man fatally shot Tuesday night has been identified as 18-year-old Michael Wilson.
Kansas City police say they were called to a shooting at 94th and Cleveland around 9:30 p..m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Wilson dead in the street.
The caller told police that he shot Wilson in self-defense. The Kansas City Star reported that police released a 21-year-old man involved in the shooting.
The Star gave these details: “The shooter told police he and a friend were walking his dog when several people approached and one pulled a gun. It was unclear why the man pulled a gun, police said. The shooter said he felt threatened so he shot the gunman. The people who had been with the gunman fled, and police were still looking to find and interview them Wednesday night.”
If my count is right, I believe this is the 74th homicide of 2012. Homicide No. 75 appears to have occurred on Wednesday morning. Police were called to 14th and Colorado around 8:06 a.m. Officers found a man in his mid-30s with no signs of life. He was later pronounced dead. The man’s wife told detectives that she returned home to find the man dead in his truck. UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Jose Espino of Kansas City, Missouri.
