Metatone’s ‘Happy Rebirthday!’ is your Crossroads Summer Block Party song of the day

The third annual Crossroads Summer Block Party is going down this Friday, June 6, and there’s a handful of well chosen acts in the lineup. Chances are, you’re familiar with some of these local favorites, but in case you’re not, we’re counting down to the end of the week with a “song of the day” from one of the bands.

Metatone puts a whole new spin on the family band deal. When J. Ashley Miller – the man behind SSCION – recruited his sister and his dad for a groovy eight-piece band project, probably no one except Miller himself would have expected it to sound the way Metatone does. On the band’s self-titled debut and December-released follow-up Hologlyph, Metatone shows itself as one of the most positive off-kilter collectives around. Listen to “Happy Rebirthday!” off last year’s debut album for a glimpse of the reggae-flavored joy that bounces around these guys – it’s bound to put you in a good mood.
