There are many definitions of feminism as there are many shades of lipstick and pairs of combat boots. So a conversation that includes a former CEO of Planned Parenthood, an African-American journalist, the founder of a Latino civic organization for youth, and a 20-something commentator for Bitch magazine is bound to get interesting. That’s the goal of “Women, Girls, Ladies: a Panel on Intergenerational Feminism,” co-sponsored by the University of Missouri-Kansas City Women’s Center. Sick of animated political discussion being mislabeled as feminist infighting, Brooklyn author Courtney Martin kick-started this traveling panel that gets women talking about, well, whatever gets them going. Past discussions have batted around sexual assault, beauty ideals and women in politics. A reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by the panel at 7, at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City, Missouri, Public Library, 4801 Main. Call 816-701-3407 for reservations.
