Matthew Davis, accused of stealing a bucket of beer from Joe’s Crab Shack, charged (updated)

Update: Holy crap. Didn’t realize this was the same Matthew Davis who in 2004 wrapped 22-year-old Amber McGathey‘s dead body in a sheet, loaded her in his Jeep Cherokee and left her there for four days.
In July 2005, Davis pleaded guilty to felony and a pair of drug charges (McGathey died of a drug overdose).
Davis was sentenced to 22 years in prison, but his defense attorney appealed and unearthed a bit of prosecutorial misconduct that led to the guilty plea being thrown out, a new trial and a new sentence of four years with time served that allowed him to walk out of the courtroom a free man.

Matthew Davis tried to steal a bucket of beer from Joe’s Crab Shack and allegedly tried to run over a cop, which kicked off an eight-hour standoff in Olathe on Wednesday.
Davis, 44, allegedly barricaded himself in a home at 19015 West 159th Terrace, but eventually surrendered. Eight hours is plenty of time to finish a bucket of beers.
Davis was charged in Johnson County court today with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and felony fleeing a law enforcement officer. He’s expected to make his first appearance this afternoon.
