Matthew Curry, the Lonely Wild, the Sluts and Rachel Mallin are at the Tank Room on Sunday

Communion Residency is an off-shoot of Communion Music’s Club Nights, which has been a thing in the U.K. since the mid-aughts (thanks in part to its popular co-founders, including Mumford & Son’s Ben Lovett). Once a month, across nine cities in the U.S., the Communion Residency showcases a host of up-and-coming talent at a set venue. Kansas City’s Communion Residency takes place once a month at the Tank Room, and on Sunday, May 17, you’ve got the chance to hear from a broad range of artists – both local and national – that should be on your radar.

This Sunday, Lawrence duo the Sluts will bring their irreverent set the stage, alongside Los Angeles Americana band the Lonely Wild. Illinois blues singer and guitarist Matthew Curry will also be on deck, as well as local singer-songwriter Rachel Mallin. Bonus: Every ticket to this month’s gig gets a copy of the Communion Residency sampler; purchase tickets here.
